How to get fit the creative way

I just love Yanko Design! Awesome list of Ten Creative Reasons To Take Up Sports And Get Fit. I suppose I could add FitBit and maybe Wii Fit.

Couch potatoes and computer-addicts like me can’t just rely on the remote control or the keyboards to get us enough exercise. And sweets, walking to the fridge for refills or fingers flying over the keys don’t count! Since YD is all about inspiration, let’s showcase Ten Scintillating reasons for us to take up some sort of sporting activity, that will make us fit.

10) Dumbbell Sports Drink by Jin Le

Suiting the eco-conscious and the not-so-flab-conscious, a few reps using this handy dumbbell can get you fit within no time. Fill it up with your fav low-cal drink do the reps and then reward yourself with a couple of healthy swigs!

9) Twin Parabolic Ski by Charlie Pyott

This pair of skis that is specifically meant for racers, but that shouldn’t deter us potatoes! We all wanna be racers someday…so may as well start practicing with the best possible equipment.

8 ) Collapsible Surfboard by Nicholas Notara

On the subject of surfing, if you do get adventurous enough to try it, but lament the lack of space at home to stow one; consider the Collapsible Surfboard. It looks awesome and works awesome as well!

7) Multi’Uz by Kévin Lecoutre

Confined spaces your issue? No worries, MULTI’UZ is the ideal equipment that allows you to play basketball, racquetball, golf, and football wherever you want to. It easily adapts to city life, where space comes at a premium.

6) High-tech Yoga Mat by Hui-Zong Chen

If you wanna take up power yoga, the you better be equipped with something equally powerful as this High-tech Yoga Mat. It entices you with functions like mp3, video conferencing and uses e-paper.

5) Ping Pong Door by Tobias Franzel

Ping Pong Door, as the name suggests, multitasks as a door and a ping pong table. Flip it down, pop the plastic net on and get going. Computer and TV addicts can do some serious rounds of play while keeping a watchful eye on the TV/Computer screen. Hell if a door can multitask, so can you!

4) Pumpboard Skateboard by Maciej Puzon

If you must take up skateboarding, then you need to do it in grunge-style and nothing better than the Pumpboard. Learn a few tricks from the rest of the gang and then show them a couple; like roll up your board after the session!

3) Mana Squash Racket by Sophie Horton

Wanna take up Squash but don’t have a proper coach? Get a proxy coach with the Mana Squash Racket. It comes with three different vocal settings and three different weight variations to teach you the tricks.

2) Oakley Beach Golf Club by Adrien Noirhomme

I don’t play golf for the simple reason that it will keep me away from the screen for long, but if I do indulge in the sport, then I must get this Oakley set. In fact it’s meant for Beach Golf…like a double bonus..coz working out on the beach is tougher. The head of this club can rotate from 12º to 64º so one club could take the place of many. Neat!

1) Sandviper Sandboard by Marc Bischoff

Go ahead and rule the dunes with this amazing board. Ideal for those who want to try a hand at a different kinda sport. My first attempt at sandboarding got me gulping in a whole lot of sand…so I’m gonna pass. But if I ever do try it again, I’d like to do it with Marc’s iteration.

Another TODO list - How to feel better

A simple list of dos and donts to make you (and people around you) feel better every day.

25 Item To-Do List EVERYONE Should Be Doing

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day, and while you walk, smile.
It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God (or to your higher power or meditate) about what is going on in your life. Buy a lock if you have to.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement,
’ My purpose is to__________ today. I am thankful for______________ ’

4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that
is manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan
salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires,
issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control
Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a
college kid with a maxed out charge card.

9. Life is not fair, but it is still good.

10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

11. Don ’ t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument.
Agree to disagree.

13. Make peace with your past so it will not spoil the present.

14. Don ’ t compare your life to others. You have no idea what
their journey is all about.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: ’ In five
years, will this matter? ’

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

18. What other people think of you is none of your business.

19. GOD (depending on your beliefs) heals everything - but you have to ask Him (translate to your religion).

20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

21. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!

22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

23. Each night, before you go to bed complete the following statements:
I am thankful for__________. Today I accomplished_________.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings.
You will be smiling before you know it.

From Here.

FitBit - I still want it

If you remember earlier this year I was wondering if I should buy FitBit. I have some additional info about this pretty cool device. FitBit creators pitch their product at TC50. After thinking, thinking and some more thinkig, also after watching their presentation, all I've got to say is "I still want it". Anyone using it?

Fancy lunchbox to enjoy food on the go

If you want to eat good and healthy it's probably best to cook your own food. However, it's not so easy to carry it to work. Well, with this little (maybe not so little) box it is.

How to write properly and avoid finger fatigue

Sky blue: Monday
Start the week with clean and clear skies.

Yellow: Tuesday
Enjoy the view of yellow flowers on Tuesday.

Pink: Wednesday
Enjoy a pink love feeling on Wednesday.

Light Green: Thursday
Concern for the environment on Thursday.

Black: Friday
Watching the stars on a crisp Friday night.

Designer: Gyu-Ryung Park

I am sure some of you experienced the finger fatigue and/or had the little mark on your middle finger from excessive writing. I suffered through that in every level of my education. And I still have some remaining from that mark. Mostly because I still do write a lot with a pen or pencil.
Today I discovered this little silicon tool (cause I think i deserves to be called a tool) that is a solution to this problem. Its name is Emma and it helps you to place your hand correctly while writing or drawing and also protects your finger from the "little mark" as I call it.

Why didn't I have it some twenty years ago...

As quoted it comes in variety of colors.

Tea is good for your body and mind

I am sure most of you are aware of the good things you can get from drinking tea. Here's a list of just a few of them:

- protects against range of cancers
- improves intestinal microflora
- boosts immune system
- protects cell membranes from oxidative damage
- prevents dental caries
- increases metabolic activity
- boosts mental alertness
- normalizes blood pressure
- depresses lipid activity
- prevents coronary heart diseases and diabetes
- etc.

I wanted to share it with you for two reasons. One, I am drinking tea for some time now and I can say that it's definetely good for your health. Two, I've realized recently that tea is becoming quite popular (especially among tech geeks). Read more about it here.

Should I buy this?

I found this rather cool gadget and I am wondering if I should buy it or not. The price is not that high, although with the USD becoming stronger over PLN it is becoming pricier every day, and who know what the exchange rate will look like in 1Q 2009 or later when product is launched internationally. The design is definitely interesting, enough at least to buy this little toy:) The functionality is intriguing. It will be really helpful in work-out programs, diets etc. I am really hoping for the sleep analysis.

How does the sleep tracking work and what will I learn?
It's important that you get a good night's sleep. Recent studies have shown that sleep quality is linked to overall wellness. Have you ever wondered why you still feel tired even though you think you've gotten a full 8 hours of sleep? The Fitbit Tracker will allow to "see" what your body is actually doing at night.

When you get into bed, you slide the Fitbit Tracker onto a wristband that is provided with the Tracker. As you fall in and out of sleep, the Fitbit tracks the movements that your body makes and can tell you how long it took you to fall asleep, how many times you woke up throughout the night and the actual time you were asleep vs the time you were in bed.
Any thoughts?

Oh, and this really cool gadget is called Fitbit. More info here.
